Whew, so, I've not posted in a while, huh? Missed my update last week and everything, oops. I've just felt lacking energy in that way that makes journal posting difficult lately. No one particular reason just a bunch of little things. However! I'm feeling more energized and looking forward to posting more regularly. Starting here, natch. So, let's get to it!

Write a New Ship: A couple of them! Nazz/May from Ed, Edd n Eddy and McGonagall/Sprout from Harry Potter. Just drabbles, but it was still fun to do something new, especially since these are both ships I've been wanting to write for a bit.

Try a New Recipe: Cheating juuust a little with this one. When I was doing my room-cleaning over vacation, I happened upon a recipe card for pizza that I thought I'd lost forever. I also happened upon a set of mini pie pans, which I'd completely forgotten about. The pans very nearly went to the yard sale with my sister-in-law, but I have a weakness for minis and I hated the thought of never using them. So, I decided to put a new spin on the old (and much-beloved) recipe. I followed the directions to make the crust and then, instead of making one whole pizza, made an individual pizza pie for my self, my mom and my brother (there were plans to make one for my sister, but she wasn't home that night. Observe:

Cute, aren't they? (Someone mentioned to me that they look burned at the edges at a glance; they're not, it's just the dark from where they came away from the sides of the pans.) The surface of the crusts ended up a little uneven and higher than I'd hoped, since I didn't know how best to layer them in the pans, but they were evenly cooked and quite yummy. Instead of sauce, I simmered some thinly-sliced tomatoes in garlic-basil olive oil with Italian seasoning and crushed red pepper until they were soft and then layered those onto the crusts (I didn't think to take a photo of them, not that they were very exciting to look at). Under the other ingredients, they really tasted and felt more like sauce than anything anyway-- less messy, though, haha.

I still had pizza dough left over from following the full recipe as far as the crust, so I added a bit of sugar and made garlic-parmesan bread stick bites. Once again, I bid you observe:

(Image: Bread stick bites, different sizes, sprinkled with parmesan; not as fabulous as the pizza pies but still lovely)

Not quite so pretty, but they were quite tasty! I'll make them differently next time I do this, though, I think, since I've definitely had better bread sticks. Still, it all made for a fun time and a nice dinner.

Write Drabbles: This square actually refers specifically to filling prompts for Drabble Tag on [community profile] femslash100, something I always mean to do more often than I actually do. As you may surmise, I hit this at the same time as the New Ships square.

Three Squares in a Week: The New Ships and Drabbles squares, of course, in combination with my last square of this post.

Practice Coding: I've been terribly remiss in regards to my coding practice, sad to say. I'm back to it now, though, and even taking real notes. I'm currently working on JavaScript, if anyone has any advice to offer!

So, that's all for now. Not much to show for two weeks, perhaps, but there's been other stuff going on in between. I've been working on those time-sensitive squares, of course, and practicing my Spanish. I bought a new crochet hook and will hopefully have something to show for at least two related squares by the end of the month. I might end up letting slide a few I really wanted this month, judging by how I'm going at them so far, but I haven't given up yet. Fingers crossed!
