What with the venting I've done about my frustrations with the Transformers comics, I feel I need to take a moment to throw some love toward a branch of Transformers that's been a consistent pick-me-up: Rescue Bots. I mentioned in my bingo post from last month that I started watching it with my mom; well, we finished it the other night. I'm sad to see it ended, not least because it ends on an open note rich with possibilities, but it was a great ride.

I feel like maybe I should feel silly for how much I love it, given that it was aimed at preschool-aged kids, but I don't. I like to unwind with something fun sometimes, and being able to remind myself that it's for kids, even more so than your average Transformers cartoon, helps me to not worry to too much about what's going on. Not that there's much to worry about, honestly. For all that the show's admittedly silly plots run on cartoon science and hand-waving, it's got solid writing, tight continuity, likeable characters and engaging character development.

And, you guys-- there's a musical episode.

It's not perfect, I admit. There are some episodes and creative decisions that leave me scratching my head even keeping in mind that it's a show for small children and some that leave me scratching my head because it's a show for small children. It suffers the usual problem of lacking female characters that all Transformers media does. Some characters didn't get enough play, imnsho. It's reliance on recurring human villains grows somewhat tiresome as the show goes on, even though they're used sparingly. But as a whole, it's a fun, feel-good show that doesn't shy away from genuine emotion. Even the weakest episode have memorable high points and I don't think there were ever two weak episodes in a row.

Of course, it doesn't hurt that I had someone to sit and watch with. I forgot how enjoyable that could be.

Anyway, yeah. I just needed to express these feelings ♥

You mean to tell me that Pat Quinn signed same-sex marriage into Illinois law on the twentieth of November-- read: MY BIRTHDAY-- and I'm just now finding out about it? Ffs, I was just grumbling about the feet-dragging, like, three days ago. Wtf, self??

Well, anyway: WOO-HOO, ILLINOIS!♥!

I would have liked it if we'd made at least the top fifteen, but at least we finally got there!

Surrey is home! My mom and sister were on their way to pick me up from work and my mom saw a tabby out her car window. My sister went to check it out aaand... it wasn't Surrey. But! Surrey was sitting on the porch of the same house the cat lived at, mooching its food. She's now home, all in one piece.

My feelings are so mixed right now. On the one hand, I'm ecstatic that she's back. On the other hand, she's apparently been hanging around that house, sitting in their window and getting fed for the last two weeks or so. The house in question is less than a five minute walk from my house. I pass it on my way to work. Ever since she was brought in, it's like she was never gone. I can't help thinking that if I was ever in trouble with the mob, she would snitch me out for a can of tuna and a box.

Man, am I ever glad that's over with. Of course, we'll probably be cleaning up the mess we were left with for about a week... Ah, well, it's still over, whoo! I again managed to escape any significant time on the front end. They got me once, but I was working a secured area on their second call and on my way to my meal break on their third. My department actually looked halfway decent when I left and all my returns were dealt with. I just hope something is going to be done about all the PDQs clogging the main aisles before I get back. Navigating around them and the crowd was like trying to get through a maze.

I had intended to picspam a bunch of victory images about here, but I'm way too tired to bother, haha.

Wow, just realized the day is almost ever. Power-nap, ftw.

I would normally be psyched because I got paid today and that means plenty of green to throw around on Discount Chocolate Day, but I'm off tomorrow and even marked-down chocolate in pretty boxes isn't enough to get me to spend the gas/make the walk when I don't have to. Ah, well. Maybe there will still be some left when I go in on Saturday.

Honestly, I still can't get over Easter candy being out already. So tempting, but I'm holding out for the day-after clearance. Last year, I got like ten bags of various various kinds of jelly beans and it lasted me for so long...

Anyway! I hope everyone's had a good day today. Anybody have a date? Treat yourself to anything nice for the occasion? Got recs for cute Valentine's Day fics? Did anyone just realize what day it is? Tell me about it!

If you celebrate, I hope everyone you had a good holiday. If you don't celebrate, I hope you had a good day anyhow!

I have to admit, I was in a better mood today than I've been in some time. Halloween wasn't the sole reason (grown-up points, whoo) but it definitely played into it. We were allowed to dress up at work and, following my tradition of throwing together a ridiculous costume at the last minute, I went as the ocean. For the most part, this was an excuse to walk around with my stuffed octopus on my head. If anyone cares enough to see pictures, let me know and I'll post. Right now, I'm looking forward to Halloween ending-- and all that candy going on sale.

How about you, flist? How was your day?

At my house, I mean. The service we've been wanting is now available in our area (has been for a while, apparently, in spite of what we kept getting told whenever we called to ask about it) and my mom doesn't like me walking out to get access when it's getting cold.

Honestly, it's kinda weird to think about. I can't recall the last time I was able to sit on my bed and go online. Possibly because that never happened; I don't really remember if I got Hal before or after we stopped the old internet service...

But that's not the point. The point is that I'm gonna have internet without leaving the house, whoo!rl
